Dell PowerVault 136T Tape Libray with Amanda

Amanda is a software to run automatic backup. It can use many different kinds of storages to store backup data such as hard drives, tapes, CDW, and others.

Amanda software hast builtin scheduler that organizes incremental and full backups.

In this article we'll describe all steps required to install, run, and maintain backup system based on Amanda software usning tape library Dell PowerVault 136T, which is also known as ADIC Scalar 100, Fujitsu Siemens Scalar 100, and IBM 7337-360.

In our article we used Dell PowerVault 136T with 70 tapes installed, which gives 14TB compressed and 28TB uncompressed backup solution.

Besides of basic installation steps, we'll describe one of most complicated subject - splitting huge data for Amanda. Currently Amanda doesn't support splitting data from single source across multiple tapes. And our article will show how to split data across multiple tapes.
